Mangaluru, Oct 15: Vinay R (19), a resident of Jail Road in Kodiyalbail in the city, was killed in a road accident which occurred near Bajal Cross on Padil-Maroli road on Wednesday October 14. He was a student of an engineering college.

Vinay R was pursuing studies in the second year engineering degree course at Canara Engineering College, Benjanapadavu near here. He was riding his new motor bike home after the examination hours from the college on Wednesday when his vehicle collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction.

The youth is survived by parents and a sister. It is said that Vinay, who usually travelled to college by bus, had taken his new two-wheeler to the college for showing it to his classmates.

The truck driver fled from the scene without stopping the vehicle. Vinay's female classmate, who was riding the pillion, suffered serious injuries and was hospitalized. Kadri traffic police have taken up investigation.
