Mangalore, Aug 1: A nun was killed when she was hit by a motor cycle while walking beside the road, near Uliyathadka of Kasargod here on Tuesday July 31.

The deceased nun has been identified as Sr Lily Maria (59), Mother Superior of Jai Matha Convent and correspondent of Jai Matha English Medium Higher Primary School at Uliyathadka.

She was hit by a mobike on Tuesday July 24 afternoon.  She was admitted in a private hospital at Mangalore, in critical condition.  However she succumbed to injuries on Tuesday Jul 31 night. 

She was originally from Mananthapady Kenichira from Varikat family.  She was a member of St Josephs Province Tellichery.  She has served in various convents across Kasargod and even in parts of Karnataka such as Shanivarasanthe.  She was serving at the convent in Uliyathadka when she was hit by the motor cycle.  Her funeral rites will be held at St Mary’s Church on Thursday August 2.
