Udupi, Aug 1: Locals led by Autorickshaw Drivers' & Owners' Association, Car Drivers' & Owners' Association, Tempo Drivers' & Owners' Association and local businessmen and vendors blocked the National Highway 17 at Uchila on Wednesday August 1 morning.

The protestors were supported by district unit of JD (S) too with its president Deviprasad Shetty taking the lead.  The agitators protested by symbolically planting coconut saplings in the potholes which have created havoc near Uchila bus stand.  They also brought in bullocks to plough.

Local leaders Dheeraj Hussain, Giriraj Suvarna, Shivanna Bangera, Shivram Kotian, Appu Kotian, U C Sheikhabba, Vasudev Rao, Santhosh Shetty and others were present on the occasion.

    Well done and it's shame on current government and the current local MLA,MP and Ministers and other leaders who are in  power and responsible for maintaining good roads specially in High ways.... At least now onwards forget about eating money and concentrate improving infrastructure..
