Udupi, Aug 2: Several objections were raised at the body meeting of the zilla panchayat, one of which was the allegation that the zilla panchayat executive engineer’s office has not been functioning efficiently with regard to the implementation of the Swajala Project in the district. This was stated at the said meeting here on Tuesday July 31.

Some of them alleged that in addition to negligent performance, the executive engineer has also been giving false and misleading information about the project. Inspite of the project being implemented three years back   it has till date not been completed and is going at a very slow pace, they complained.

These matters were raised when the general body received a progress report from the executive engineer Keerthimohan Kaup and superintendent engineer H T Poojary. The report is not appropriate the house objected, as in the name of the project an open well has been dug in the Irody region.

Standing committee president Bhujanga Shetty, ZP president B N Shankar Poojary, Kita Shrinivas Poojary and others who were at the meeting too raised their objections questioning the fact as to who gave the order and right to carry out this project.

In the course of the meet a tribute was paid to the senior artiste M M Hegde.
