Bengaluru: Woman comes alive miraculously minutes before burial

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Oct 24: In a miraculous incident which happened in the city a few days back, a lady, who was declared dead by the doctors of a hospital, came alive minutes before she was to be buried.

Shaheena Begum (29), a resident of Goripalya on Mysore Road here, woke up before she was put to rest permanently. This happened because of the mistake committed by the doctors of a private hospital in the city. Shaheena has since regained her health, and is leading a normal life.

Shaheena, who had high uncontrolled fever, had become unconscious. The doctors of a private hospital where she was treated, failed to make her regain consciousness even after treating her for four to five days. Thereafter, the doctor attending to Shaheena called her father, Muhammed, and asked him to prepare for the funeral. He also issued discharge from the hospital.

The family members made all preparations for her funeral. A large number of relatives gathered near her home to pay last respects and take part in the funeral procession. Just before the body was being moved out for the burial, Muhammed observed slight movement in the hand of Shaheena. He then contacted family doctor, Dr Tanveer, over phone, after which Dr Tanveer rushed to the spot. He found that Shaheena was breathing. She was then admitted into a Hospital from where she has returned to normalcy completely.

    Don't worry!

We should expect a lot more of such things from these doctors nowadays whose parents pay more than a crore rupees to have their children get a degree in medicine.

Thank God he didn't kill her, he only declare her dead and it was her good luck that she trembled in time or else imagine the trauma of being buried alive.

Anyway in India we have a lot of live cadavers who can be sacrificed by such doctors before they can successfully treat the 100th patient.

Medical seat should be alloted on the basis of merit only.

Why the doctors her dead? was there no heart beat?, no pulse?. Check doctor's degree certificates to see if he is genuine. In any case doctors should be sued if there is no proper test results shown on declaring her dead.

It is difficult to comprehend that mistakes like these occur in India. What if the lady was buried alive?

This matter should be viewed seriously and the person responsible fro the mistake should be taken to task.

Functioning of Brain ,Heart and Lungs should come to a complete zero then only a person should be d dead .Perhaps the private Hospital Doctors who generally are non qualified or misqualified ( Like BUMS,DHMS,LCEH etc etc )fail to test these functions before declaring a person dead

A similar case happened in one of the reputed civic hospitals in Mumbai wherein a young man picked up from the streets, d/certified by the attending doc as dead showed signs of life while being shifted to the postmortem table! The attenders immediately passed on the message to senior docs who later found that he was a very severe case of malnutrition along with an ear infection! He regained his senses and started getting treated at the hospital!!

But shocking aspect is that the doc who certified him dead immediately tore the register in which the entry was made and even the death certificate to destroy evidence and save his skin!!

The above is a true incident and not figment of imagination!!

I wonder whether Ms Shaheena was really dead any time. She was 'discharged' from a hospital. A dead person will not have the noting 'discharged' All the same, thanks be to God for the full recovery.

This is possibly a case of misunderstanding as the doc concerned issues a 'discharge certificate' and not 'death certificate'!! What he could have possibly meant by saying 'prepare for the funeral' means it is like a gone case so take her home and get ready for the funeral which was miscontrued by the family who straightaway took her for the last rites!!

BTW, I wonder how a body can be disposed of in a registered burial place without a 'death certificate' from a doc or hospital???

Doc, in the report it is mentioned that she was 'DISCHARGED' from the hospital! In view of that, in the absence of a valid 'death certificate, how come the body was taken inside the burial ground??? If disposing off of a dead body with valid 'death certificate' is possible then it can be misused by anybody!!!

    Dear Anp, Bluru
Life and death is not in the hands of a Doctor, a nurse or a compounder.
It is in the hands of God.
A doctor can only find out the sickness and diagnose the patient with the available curable or sustainable medicine.
