Mangalore, Aug 2: The 11th Independence football cup tournament will start from Saturday August 4 at Nehru Maidan here, said Mohammad Hussein, secretary of Dakshina Kannada Football Association, a press note stated.
The tournament will be inaugurated on the same day by the deputy commissioner of M Maheshwar Rao and Krishnappa Poojary, commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation will preside over the inaugural ceremony.
Satheesh Kumar, SP, U Shanbagh, general manager of Syndicate Bank and UT Khader, MLA of Ullal will be the chief guests.
A total of 102 teams from 3 districts are expected to participate in the tournament, 31 teams from colleges, 27 from PU division, 26 from high school division, 15 from primary division and 3 from girls' section, said he.
