Doha, Oct 28: Vivian D'Souza Bondel has been unanimously elected president of Konkani Speaking Community at Our Lady of Rosary Church, Doha for the year 2015-18.
Fr Anand Castelino, OFM Cap, Our Lady of Rosary Church, Doha read out the names of new committee during the Konkani mass. Qatar resident, active community leader, Vivian D'Souza was elected president of Konkani Speaking Community for the next three years.
Vivian D'Souza has rendered his service as an active member in parish council and served as secretary to the parish council. He was in charge of church building and seraphic hall and also served as president of POSA, a charitable unit of the church for 3 consecutive years. Working closely with various unemployed youths at industrial area and fishermen camps, he helps the needy people providing them provisions, giving medical aid etc. Under his leadership many medical and blood donation camps have been conducted in the church premises. Vivian D'Souza is familiar among the community members with his selfless service in Doha. He has served the society associating with Mangalore Cricket Club and Tulu Koota Qatar too.
Fr Anand proposed thanks to KSC outgoing committee president Mathew Estrocio and his team for their selfless service towards the church and poor people in the society.
Konkani Speaking Community is an active group belonging to the people from the Konkan zone of India, Maharashtra, Goa, Karwar and Mangaluru. KSC members render selfless services towards poor people in the society. KSC offers prayer, Novenas and keeps alive traditional Konkan festivals in Doha, by celebrating St Xavier Feast, St Anthony Feast and Monthi Feast.
