Mangaluru set to host its first children's festival from Nov 22 to 26

Mangaluru , Nov 4:"The 10th edition of Children's India International Film Festival is set to be inaugurated on November 22 at Panambur Beach. The Film Festival will be held from November 22 to 26," said Dakshina Kannada District In-Charge minister B Ramanath Rai.

He was addressing a press meet at DC office here on Wednesday November 4.

"This year marks the 125th birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Chief minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate this festival. This is the first time in history the film festival is held in Mangaluru and Udupi. All these years the film festival was held at Bengaluru." Rai added.



Deputy Commissioner AB Ibrahim said "CIICFF organized this film festival in association with Karnataka Film Academy with the support of District Administration.The film will be screened in 12 theaters in the city and 5 theaters in various taluks of the district. 7500 children can watch a film at the same time in different theaters and 1,20,000 children will watch the movies in four days. The show time will be from morning 9.00 am to 3.30pm."

Festival director N R Nanjunde Gowda speaking on the occasion said "30 delegates from across the globe will take part in this film festival. 250 films from 40 countries will be screened. Feature films, short movies, Environmental, Wild Animals and Animated movies will be screened on this occasion. Not only award winning but also the best films will be screened in this film festival. Workshops releated to film producing will be held by experts and CIFEJ award winning films will be screened."

Renown director Rajendra Singh Babu said, "We are also planning to hold film festivals in the future in Mangaluru. This is to boost culture, tourism and history of this place."

Former Union minister and Rajyasabha Member Oscar Fernandes was also present on this occasion.
