Mumbai, Aug 10: `King of Bollywood`, a book on actor Shah Rukh Khan, depicting the journey of a middle-class Muslim boy from Delhi who broke into the insular and nepotistic world of Mumbai show business and emerged as a superstar, has released here.
The book, released at a glittering function Tuesday night has been penned by critic and author Anupama Chopra. It contains first-hand interviews and exclusive photographs from an insiders perspective on Shah Rukh Khan and the world of Hindi cinema.
The book portrays a sweeping account of a man worshipped as a modern-day god, a country finding its identity and a film industry that has helped change the face of India.
Badshah Khan`s larger-than-life tale takes the reader through the colourful and idiosyncratic Bollywood industry where fantastic dreams and outrageous obsessions share the spotlight with extortion, murder and corruption.
Chopra, a film critic and author, has been writing about the Hindi film industry since 1993. Her various works on the Indian film fraternity have been carried out by The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Variety and Sight & Sound.
`King of Bollywood` will be available in Hindi and other regional languages.
