Kundapur: Bus knocks down cyclist to death at Kumbasi

Kundapur, Nov 7: After a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC)bus knocked down a cyclist on national highway 66 near the welcome arch of Anegudde Lord Vinayaka Temple at Kumbasi near Tekkatte in the taluk, the cyclist was killed. The accident occurred on the evening of Friday November 6 evening.

Krishna Shettigar (55) from Vakwady near Kumbhasi was killed in this accident. The KSRTC bus in question was moving towards Vijayapura from Mangaluru when it directly hit the bicycle-borne Shettigar. As the bus hit the bicycle at great speed, Shettigar, who was thrown to the road, suffered severe injuries to his head, and lost his life on the spot. The bicycle was completely smashed in the accident.

As the driver of the bus ran away after the accident, passengers in the bus had no clue what to do. Policemen from the town rushed to the spot and took steps to clear the road and shift the body to hospital for postmortem.
