Kundapur, Aug 10: A seminar on harvesting of rainwater was held under the joint auspices of village organic agricultural project implementation committee of Yedtady-Matyady of Kundapur taluk, Citizens' Service Trust of Guruvayankere and with the participation of agricultural department of Kundapur unit at in Udupi district Panchayat higher elementary school of Yedtady here recently.
Presiding over, Arun Kumar Hegde, president of Gram Panchayat of Hombady advised the villagers to avail the benefits and facilities provided by the government. He further advised them to follow the organic agricultural practices as propagated and demonstrated by the government officials.
Shankar Mogveera, one of the members of taluk panchayat was the chief guest. M G Chandrashekar, a trustee of citizen’s service trust from Kundapur unit and Ananthayya Shetty, farmers' representative were present on the dais.
Speaking on the methods of conserving rainwater and the fertility of soil, agricultural assistant Bhasker of Jala Nayana department said that conservation of rainwater and the fertility of soil could be maintained by harvesting as well as growing paddy.
Leo Rebello delivered the introductory speech. Siddakatte Ramesh, the development officer welcomed the gathering, read the report on the progress made in the implementation of village project and also compered the programme. Ramesh Kambadakone, coordinator, enlightened the audience on the several aspects of agricultural practices. Chandra, assistant field officer proposed the vote of thanks.
