Bantwal, Nov 9: The police personnel of rural police station here have succeeded in cracking a five-month old case of abduction of a girl from Rayi in Koila in the taluk. The accused was taken into custody from Tamil Nadu (TN).
Sandeep, a resident of Vamadapadavu in the taluk, was arrested in connection with this crime. On being produced in the court of the junior magistrate first class (JMFC) here, he was remanded to judicial custody.
A complaint had been filed in the rural station here about a girl from Koila having been kidnapped on June 26. The policemen, who were following up with the investigation of this case, found out that the cell phone of the girl was located within the area covered by a mobile tower in TN. They went there and found that Sandeep was living with the girl at a place named Huykalli in TN. Under the guidance of police circle inspector, K U Belliappa, station house officer, Rakshit, and other personnel could crack this case.
The police were given to understand that both the boy and the girl were living together with mutual consent. Sandeep has been remanded to two weeks judicial custody, whereas the girl has been entrusted to the care of a centre for women at Jappinamogaru, Mangaluru, policemen said.
