IS suicide attack kills Taliban commander

Kabul, Nov 10 (IANS): A suicide bomber loyal to the Islamic State targeted Taliban militants in Afghanistan's Khak-e-Afghan district on Tuesday, killing a senior Taliban commander, police said.

The militant strapped an explosive device on his body and blew himself up among Taliban fighters killing commander Mullah Pir Agha and injuring another militant, Mullah Mati, police officer Abdul Razeq told Xinhua.

Mullah Mati is the shadowy governor of Taliban in Zabul province, the official added.

This is the first time that the Islamic State has organized a suicide attack against the rival Taliban group in Afghanistan.

Islamic State and Taliban militants have been fighting in parts of Zabul and Nangarhar provinces over the past couple of months.
