Possession of explosives - judicial custody of Biju Thomas extended

Karkala, Nov 11: Local assistant superintendent of police, Dr Suman Pannekar, has informed that the judicial custody of Biju Thomas, accused of hoarding stock of explosives worth crores of rupees at different spots within this taluk, has been extended till November 16.

Biju, a native of Kerala who presently stays at Udupi, had been arrested over a year back, after huge stock of explosives were seized from different places within the taluk. These stocks, which were unusually large, had been found to be not backed by documents. Suman gave this information when the general opinion that has gathered foothold in the minds of people that the police were taking this case lightly, was brought to the official's notice.

The ASP insisted that the personnel of her department are not under any political pressure in the case, and that the judicial custody of the accused has been extended because of the seriousness attached to the case by her department.
