Bangalore, Aug 13: The State chief minister H D Kumaraswamy is all set to face the arc lights and don the grease paint to make a brief cameo in a forthcoming Kannada film.
The Kannada film titled ‘Preethi Eke Bhoomi Melide’, which means ‘Why love is on earth’ will have several prominent actors acting in it and talk on the subject of love. The Karnataka chief minister will also be essaying the said role amongst the host of other prominent personalities in the movie.
The said film is to be directed by popular Kannada film director Prem and will have senior police officer Subhash Bharani, former underworld don Muthappa Rai and two heads of religious institutions in Karnataka who will also be joining Kumaraswamy in making pertinent observations on love.
As everyone is aware Kumaraswamy is scheduled to hand over the post of chief minister to its alliance partner BJP in the first week of October, according to the power sharing agreement between JD (S) and BJP. It has not yet been finalized whether he will shoot for the scene as a chief minister or as a former chief minister.
It must be noted that, Kumaraswamy is not a new entrant to the Kannada film arena. Before entering politics, Kumaraswamy was a film producer and distributor. Among the series of hit films he made under his banner Channambika Films were Suryavamsha and Chandra Chakori, which were huge hits, running to packed houses.
This is not the first time a Karnataka CM is making a guest appearance in a movie, earlier too similar roles were essayed by former Karnataka chief minister Ramakrishna Hegde in two different films namely Marana Mrudanga and Praja Shakti.
