Urgent need for united global action to combat terror: PM Modi at G20 Summit

Antalya, Nov 15 (PTI): Condemning strongly the terrorist attack in Paris, India today made a case for united global effort to combat the menace of terrorism.

"We stand united in strongly condemning the dreadful acts of terrorism in Paris... The entire humanity must stand together as one against terrorism. The need for a united global effort to combat terrorism has never been more urgent," Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the meeting of the BRICS leaders on the sidelines of the G20 Summit.

India, which takes over the Chairmanship of BRICS from February 1, 2016, will accord priority to combating terrorism, he said. In the worst ever terror attacks by ISIS in Paris on November 13, at least 129 people were killed and 352 injured, many in critical condition.

Combating terrorism, Modi said, "must also be a priority for BRICS nations".Besides Modi, BRICS meeting is being attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, South African President Jacob Zuma and Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff.

Modi said: "We express deepest sympathy and support to Russia for the loss of life in Sinai. Ankara and Beirut are also reminders of terror's growing spread and impact".

"The theme of India's BRICS Chairmanship will be 'Building Responsive, Inclusive and Collective Solutions' which, in short, will be 'BRICS'. It aptly describes the ethos of our group," Modi said.

There was a time when the logic of BRICS and its lasting capacity were being questioned, but today BRICS can also give shape to G20, he added.

"We have provided proof of the relevance and value of BRICS through our actions. And, this has come at a time of huge global challenges," he said, adding that "together, we can also give shape to G20".

The New Development Bank, the Currency Reserve Arrangement, Strategy for BRICS Economic Cooperation - these are clear evidence of our vision and our resolve.

"India attaches the highest importance to BRICS. We are honoured to assume the Chairmanship of BRICS from February 1, 2016 and build on the great work done by other Members," he said.

Don't worry Mr.Modi about what happens in the G20 summit. Say what everyone else is saying but in your 56" style.
However, make sure that you move around and get yourself into position so that the maximum number of cameras are focussed on you all or most of the time. That is one sure way of making people (international & domestic) believe that you are still popular if they see your face on TV, newspapers etc. all the time.

World has no option but to come togethor against terrorism. It is not slogans that is going to change the ground situation. The efforts must be holistic, not peace meal.

    1) It must define military interventions in any country. Why and When. The basis of which must be backed with solid authentic evidence.
2)People or organization killing innocents for political or religious believes, must be treated as acts of terrorism.
    3) Funding and utilization of money must be monitored at micro level.
    4) Media, both social and visual media must be held accountable in case, they incite voilence based on fictions.
    5) Political or religious leadership must be held accountable cases of inciting voilence against communities.
    6) Govt servant must be held accountable failing to do protect innocents. Such acts must be treated as murders.

no matter, people try to equate rss which is a social organisation with nazi or other groups, it will have no takers particularly with hindus.as hindus are united and know they need a united front to protect against enemies who are trying to destroy the hindu community, same like how muslims and christians have thier own fronts like vatican or OIC.

rss is a social organisation whose aim is to protect hindu community and also unite it by breaking down caste barriers which is man made within the hindu community.never ever it waged war or used weapons in its history nor will it in future.so equating it to other violent organisations in history is a joke.those people who have indulged in diviiding india for thier selfish political gains are scared that rss is uniting hindus.thats why they are panicked and think that by equating rss to some violent organisation, people will buy thier theory but sadly there are no takers especially hindus.no party has the guts to ban rss as they dont have any credible issues to prove against rss.

Questions of dividing India by Non Hindus unthinkable. Credit of uniting India goes to Non Hindus. India never was a country. It was ruled by hundreds of small divided princely Land lords called Raja. India was united in to Country by small group of Mogul rulers (Minority). After Mogul credit to unite India is belong to small group of sailors from England. (Minority) No Hindu ruler was able to control/rule entire India. Hindus are always divided in to cast, religion, sub cast, untouchables etc. Indian Raja’s fought wars against fellow small time Raja’s. In history we never had a Indian Hindu empire. We had Mogul Empire, British India Empire We had Ashoka’s Buddhist Empire. The reason Modi went to England to give Thanks/Gifts to Queen for England's help for uniting hundreds of small princely States in to Union of Present India.

credit of uniting india goes to non hindus??????what type of statement it is.sadar vallabhai patel united all princely states in india and formed a single block called india.when some princely states like hyderabad(under nizam rule),junagad, goa(under portuguese rule),puducherry(under french rule) refused to merge with india, then sardar patel used aindian army so that they surrendered thier states.he was to do the same thing for kashmir but nehru stooped him and took this issue to un.so kashmire is currently under mess now.british just wanted to leave whole thing in mess.its bcoz of sardar patel patel we have this india today.thats why he is called loh purush or iron man of india even though he was not pm or president of this country.

india or hindustan was called bharathvarsh for 8000-10000 years even before the term hindustan and india came into picture.in that sense europe was also divided into numerous pieces and ruled by rajas and were fighting against each other for supremacy.it was the norm of those times in the world where there was only monarchy system in whole world and nothing known as communist, socialist or democracy system existed.

    Godwin,

If i am not mistaken, in my view already the secular parties of Hindustan are united to fight these kind of menace under the leadership of passionate patriotic leader called Lalu.

It took almost 18 months to realize by them to take note of their mistake & now learned and practiced successfully in the state called Bihar.

    Jai ho...,

The root cause of terror is misinterpretation of their religious books, false propaganda, religious Mullah's hatred sermon/teaching's against non Muslims, make them hard core jehadist. And by killing non Muslims they think that they will be favored to their God and will be awarded in haven.
In the secular countries Government should implement a law to prevent all these inhuman menace irrespective of religion to make our future generation fear free world
