Mangalore, Aug 14: The public are prohibited from using plastic flags during the Independence day celebrations on August, the district administration announced in a release.

A release from the deputy commissioner stated that plastic national flags should not be used as buntings. It states that some people have the tendency to throw away plastic national flags once the celebration of the Independence Day is over, which is not the right thing to do. The national flag must be given its due respect, informed the release.

    In a country like ours where majority of the people are poor. the plastic flag is a source of patriotrism for the small children. There should be no ban on plastic flags. But however due respect should be given and the flags should not be thrown on the streets.
