Chamarajanagara: Three friends on morning walk killed by goods vehicle

Chamarajanagara, Nov 18: Three persons who went for morning walk as usual on Tuesday November 17 were killed on the spot after a goods vehicle rammed into them near Madapura in the taluk.

The deceased have been identified as Satyadas (38), member of Madapura gram panchayat, Bhakta Rajendraprasad (45) and James Mohare (50), both from Madapura. These three friends used to meet every morning and go for a walk on national highway 209 to Bhogapura Gate and return after sometime. On Tuesday, at around 6.30 am, the trio was returning after reaching Bhogapura Gate, when a Tata Ace goods vehicle which came at high speed from the direction of Santhemarahalli hit the three friends.

All the three lost their lives on the spot. The driver of the vehicle abandoned the vehicle on the spot and took to his heels.

The police later shifted the bodies to the district hospital. District superintendent of police, Kuldeep Kumar R Jain, deputy superintendent of police, Mahantesh, and others visited the spot. A case was registered in Ramasamudra police station.

Madapura villagers gathered near Bhuvaneshwari Circle in the town on Tuesday afternoon, and held protest, charging the district deputy commissioner of failing to visit the town to condole the deaths and provide solace to grieving members of their families. They were also angered by the delayed postmortem and failure of local people's representatives to visit the spot. They demanded for the visit of the deputy commissioner and disbursement of compensation to the families of the deceased persons.
