Chain snatching in train - woman loses ornaments worth Rs 1.4 lac

Udupi, Nov 19: In an incident which occurred at Barkur railway station in the district on Wednesday November 18, a youth snatched away two gold chains from the neck of a passenger of a train.

Perambra Girija Rajan (53) from Kozhikode district, Kerala, was travelling from Mangaluru to Byndoor along with some of her relatives in Mumbai express train. Reportedly, as soon as the train reached Barkur railway station, a youth, aged around 30, suddenly snatched away two gold chains she was wearing around her neck, and fled out of the train.

The chains so robbed were weighing 60 grams and were worth Rs 1.40 lac rupees, Girija said in her complaint registered in Brahmavar police station. The police have taken up investigation.
