Bantwal, Nov 20: The two-day 'Mangaluru Udyoga Mela-2015' organized at Canara Engineering College premises, Benjanapadavu here drew to a close on Friday November 20, with thousands of aspirants flocking the job fair.

District in-charge minister Ramanath Rai expressed his happiness at the success of the Udyoga Mela.

Speaking to news reporters regarding the success of the job fair, Rai said, "The heads of a large number of companies which participated in the fair have expressed their appreciation. The department of employment and training too has spoken the words of praise about the job fair. Those who have secured jobs are happy. None among the participants said that they were dissatisfied. On the whole the success of the job fair has made us glad."

"There are sufficient numbers of educational institutes in the district. There are adequate centres of skill and technical training. More than one lac students graduate from them and look for jobs every year. While some of them get jobs, others remain unemployed and get distressed. I had the desire to hold the Job fair to create a platform for them. My desire is now fulfilled. The suggestion of Dr Harish Hande that a research centre should be opened in Mangaluru has provided me new inspiration. The job fair will be held every year in order to provide employment to the youth of the district," he said.

Urban development minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “By organizing Udyoga Mela, Ramanath Rai has set an example for other ministers of the state. In the coming days, we have plans to organize such a job fair in Udupi too."

In all, 16,695 job aspirants had registered for the two-day job fair, out of which 12,470 participated. Altogether, 223 companies came for the job fair and 165 companies hired 665 candidates. Rest of the companies will finalize their candidates in the next one week.

DC AB Ibrahim said that totally, around 5,000 are expected to find employment through this job fair.

BUDA president Pius Rodrigues, zilla panchayat member Chandrashekar Shetty, M S Mohammed, taluk panchayat member Padmashekar Jain, Block congress president Mayilappa Salian, Abbas Ali, Baby Kunder, Yousuf Karandadi and others were present.

As per news report, 12470 job aspirants participated. Out of them, 165 companies hired 665 candidates. The rest went back home with "satisfaction". These 12000plus will come back to Udupi job fair and glossy headlines are assured to Mr. Sorake also. This is the new management strategy of converting problems to opportunities. DC is telling "around 5000 are expected to find employment through this job fair". Our DC is always one step ahead of our petty politicians. Bureaucrats/civil servants should hold to principles and pride to retain respectability of their position. Being subservient will not serve the purpose of erecting our fragile democracy on three great pillars. Meanwhile, providing education and job opportunities are the responsibility of elected government. Is this petty show needs to be executed with taxpayer's money? Grossly fail to understand role of government in this job mela. May be, they want to underline their role as a sole benefactor to maintain vote bank. Media boasts Mr. Rai has done a wonderful job. Great Indian Rope trick.... Long live great Indian Democracy.

Arrangements Excellent. Volunteers were really good. Win win situations for both Employers and Employees. Both had a wide range of choice. We got our 6 vacancies filled.
I wish parents and colleges make these candidates easily employable by changing their attitude and skills.

I participated in the Udyog mela as a employer and I was extremely satisfied with everything. It was a good opportunity for companies looking to hire people as well as people who were in need of jobs. Both had a wide range of choices.
Many companies like mine would have interviewed hundereds of candidates and it will take some time to finalise from the list.
So people who are employable and have the requisite attitude and skills are sure to get jobs.

Is this govt's achievement or wasted tax payers' money?
