Mangaluru, Nov 20: Mandd Sobhann, the premier organization which works for the promotion of Konkani language, music, culture and art, has announced the top three nominees in six categories for the 7th Global Konkani Music Awards.
From 163 applications received, the first panel of judges selected the following:
I. Best Singer (Female):
• Anitha D'souza (Bela) : Song – 'Him Mho'jim Kanknnam'; Album – Yaad.
• Archana Khandeparkar (Goa) : Song – 'Ghazal'; Album – Ottam Vo'ilim Gitam.
• Shilpa Cutinha (Mangaluru) : Song – 'Ahimsa'; Album – Melodia.
II. Best Singer (Male):
• Prajoth D'Sa (Kallianpur) : Song – 'Thembe Thembe Pavsa'; Album – Poilo Moag.
• Dr Prashanth Raj (Mangaluru) : Song – 'Vande Mataram'; Album – Poilo Moag.
• K Nithin (Cochin) : Song – 'So'pnnelam'; Album – Yaad.
III. Best Lyricist:
• Lloyd Austin Rego (Taccode) : Song – 'So'rnnelam'; Album – Yaad.
• Nandan Hegde Desai (Goa) : Song – 'Vatatlya Pavsant'; Album – Konkani Unplugged.
• Wilson Sequeira (Kateel) : Song – 'Thembe Thembe Pavsa'; Album – Poilo Moag.
IV. Best Music Arranger:
• Cajetan Dias (Bengaluru) : Song – 'Devak Shimplem'; Album – Hello Deva.
• M Dolvin Kolalgiri (Kolalgiri) : Song – 'Thembe Thembe Pavsa'; Album – Poilo Moag.
• Roshan D'Souza (Angelore) : Song – 'So'pnneliam'; Album – Yaad.
V. Best Music Composer:
• Cajetan Dias (Bengaluru) : Song – 'Devak Shimplem'; Album – Hello Deva.
• K Nithin (Cochin) : Song – 'Chandrar Tuji'; Album – Yaad.
• Roshan D'Souza (Angelore) : Song – 'Sopnnelam'; Album – Yaad.
VI. Best Music Album:
• Krishna Damodara : Producer – Nishad Nirmonni, Goem; Nandan Hegde Desai, Goa.
• Poilo Moag : Producer – ALP Music; Anil Pais and Laveena Praphulla, Kuwait.
• Yaad : Producer – Mother Mary Creations; Anitha D'souza, Bela.
The second panel of three judges will select the winners. All nominees will be honoured and winners will be announced at the award ceremony to be held on December 13 at Kalaangann, Shaktinagar, at 6 pm.
Each Award includes Rs 25,000 cash prize, the coveted title and a trophy.
Internationally acclaimed Queen of Indipop and playback, Hema Sardesai will be the chief guest. Sonia Shirsat, the 'Fado' Queen of Goa, will perform. Nach Sobhann troupe will also perform scintillating dances and there will also be two songs by the Konkani singing club of Mandd Sobhann 'Sumell'.
The ceremony will be compered by award winning playwright Arun Raj Rodrigues and Soad-4 'Rani Kogull' Jacqueline Fernandes.
