Mangalore, Aug 15: A special course in engineering for the evacuees of Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) was inaugurated at the Karnataka Polytechnic B by district-in-charge minister Nagaraj Shetty here, on Tuesday August 15.

Speaking on the occasion Shetty stated that it is the moral duty of industries to ensure the protection of the people they evacuate when building multi-crore projects.

He stated that there are many unemployed youths in the country and day by day their number is increasing. This problem should be resolved as early as possible, he added. He further informed that a new polytechnic will start functioning soon in Bantwal.

M Veerappa Moily chairman of administrative reforms commission informed that Dakshina Kannada is the first district in the state to launch such a project.

A G Pai chief operating officer of MSEZ introduced the project and said that nearly 220 matriculates will be trained in Karnataka Polytechnic in various trades such as mechanical, E&C, E&E etc, so that they can be placed in some of the related industries.

The said course will begin on Thursday August 16, he informed.

J Krishna Palemar MLA of Suratkal presided over the inaugural session. M Maheshwar Rao deputy commissioner, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, ISN Prasad MD of MSEZ and others were present on the occasion.
