Udupi, Nov 21: Udupi district youth block Congress committee, on Saturday, November 21, along with people from backward class, staged a protest, in front of Clock tower, against Bhajrang Dal for allegedly murdering Harish Poojary (28).

Earlier, Harish Poojary was murdered during Tipu anniversary celebrations on November 12 near B C Road.

Addressing the protesters, Congress leader, Amrith Shenoy said, “Hindu sanghatans are directly responsible for the murder of young Harish Poojary. Bhajrang Dal should not provoke communal fights in the minds of youngsters”.

“BJP leader wants his son to become MLA, MP and party leader. He never thinks his son to be a convener. Poor, backward class youths only become convener of the party and their development is never the agenda of BJP”, he alleged.

“Congress party seeks vote in the name of development, but BJP leaders ask victim’s history while compensating the family. BJP and its winged parties themselves propagated that Harish was murdered by the other community but after the investigation truth has been revealed. Harish was murdered by Bhajrang Dal activists”.

He demanded that BJP should seek for an apology from the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Janardhan Bhandarkar said, “Prime Minister Modi has never done anything till now to stop returning awards by eminent writes. People should realize the tactics of Modi led BJP. BJP is trying to construct shrine for Gandhi’s murderer”.

He further said that there is a need to have control over social media from publishing provocative words by any person.

P Yuvaraj, president, CMC, MA Gafoor, Ramesh Poojary, Prashant Bhat and others were present.
