Two collections of short stories released
Mangaluru, Nov 23: Twin dramas 'Munni' and 'Imaaz' were staged at Don Bosco hall in city on Sunday, November 22.
'Munni' a one and half hour drama was played first. 'Munni' is the story of a destitute, a product of a live- in relationship. She has a life like others with its own disadvantages. Salomi Alvares who enacted the role of Munni simply excelled in her acting. Even though Salomi plays only one role of Munni in the drama, she has to portray a wide range of different emotions of a person. Salomi manages to show all types of emotions of an individual and does justice to the role. John Permannur wrote and directed the drama with also providing the music. The new concept and innovation were well appreciated by the audience with applauses. This was the second show for the drama, the first show being played in January this year.
The second drama ‘Imaaz’ (Statue) was a crime thriller of one hour duration. The drama was written by Naveen Kulshekar and directed by John M Permannur. Naveen Kulshekar, Jeevan Vas, Vinolyn D'Souza, Jasmine Fernandes, Meena Alvares, Leslie D'Souza Permannur acted the drama. Nellu Permannur scored music. ‘Imaaz’ was a new type of drama with continuity without any break in conversation. The suspense story revolves around a murder and its investigation.
Before the twin dramas staged, two books of short stories were released by Fr Derel Fernandes the editor of 'Sevak' Konkani monthly. Fr Fernandes wished the writers of the books well. The books released on the occasion were, 'Devachi Mahima’, written by Vijay (Victor Alvares) and Mog ani Dharm' written by Naveen Kulshekar (Lawrence Alvares). Both the writers are well known in Konkani literature.
