Mangalore, Aug 16: The youth of today lead a life according to their will and defend themselves in the name of freedom. They often mistake freedom for determination, said Dr Radhakrishna, principal of Government Girls’ College (Balmatta) at Tagore Park here on Wednesday August 15.
He was speaking at the Independence Day celebrations organized by Mahatma Gandhi Peace Foundation.
Freedom is different from determination, he informed. He further said that one should not gain freedom by affecting others’ freedom.
One should develop peace within and only then he will find peace among others, he said and added that non-violence should be practiced like a religion.
KK Uchil, vice-president of the Foundation and veteran freedom fighter and P Sadananda, secretary of the Foundation spoke on the occasion.
K Puroshotham Shetty president of the Foundation presided over the function.
