Mysuru: Annual general meeting, 1st anniv of Konkan Bhavan held

Mysuru, Nov 24: The annual general body meeting of Konkani Christian Association, Mysore and its first anniversary celebration of Konkan Bhavan was held on Sunday, November 22 at Konkan Bhavan.

The function started with a holy Eucharistic mass in Konkani celebrated for the intentions of all the members, praying for the next committee and thanking for all the blessings that God had bestowed in the  last two years.

Members from all the parts of Mysore came together and prayed for the well-being of the whole universe .The mass was followed by a delicious breakfast.

The general body meeting 2013-15 started at 10.00 am. One minute of silence was expressed thereby mourning and expressing condolence to all the members who passed away last year.

Vice president, John Leo Rebello welcomed all the members to the annual general body meeting. Secretary, John William D’Souza presented the annual report of 2014-15 which was passed with a unanimous support from all the members. Vincent Crasto, treasurer, presented the annual income and expenditure report of the year 2014-15. This was followed by a discussion session where members put forth their suggestions regarding the activities and funds of the association. 

President, Gracian Rodrigues, in his talk thanked all the members for all their support and cooperation in the last two years.

The budding talents and members who have excelled in various spheres like education, sports and social activities were honoured by the association. A total of 50 members were honoured for their achievements.

Then, the election was conducted and the new committee for the next two years was elected.

President Vincent Crasto, vice president John J Pinto and Victoria Roberts, secretary John William D’Souza, joint secretaries Harry Pinto and Apoline D’Souza and treasurer John Leo Rebello were elected as the new committee heads.

After the election, all the members enjoyed a sumptuous lunch of Unndo Mass.

As part of the cultural events and the celebration of the first anniversary of Konkan Bhavan the association staged a Kalakul repertory, a short play ‘Santhanam’ written by Arun Raj Ludrik and directed by Christopher D’Souza.

The entertaining and exemplary drama was appreciated by all in Mysore. The function ended with an interaction and evening snacks.
