Bangalore, Aug 17: Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, who is said to have earned the ire of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy over his repeated statements on power transfer, on Thursday said that he would remain silent on power transfer issue till October 3, the day on which Kumaraswamy is scheduled to pass on the baton to Yediyurappa according to the agreement reached between the two parties.
Speaking to media persons after a day-long meeting with BJP office bearers, chairmen of boards and corporations and the ministers, Yediyurappa, in a damage control act, said that neither he nor his party leaders would discuss the matter of power transfer in public henceforth.
When asked about CM's reaction to his statement on power transfer, Yediyurappa said that he would soon meet Kumaraswamy and sort out the differences and misunderstandings, if any. “I will talk to CM and clear the misunderstandings over my statement in Shimoga,” he said.
Yediyurappa, after unfurling the national flag at his home district Shimoga on Wednesday, had declared that it was his last participation in Independence Day celebrations as Deputy Chief Minister and that he would hoist the tri-colour in Bangalore as Chief Minister next year.
Earlier in the day, Yediyurappa who seemed perturbed by the CM's ‘strong’ reaction to his statement on power transfer sent two of his ministers, Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu and Health Minister R Ashok, as his emissaries to pacify an ‘agitated’ Kumaraswamy. Naidu and Ashok who met Kumaraswamy described their mission as "fruitful", but did not elaborate.
