Udupi, Nov 24: As expected, Udupi BJP has decided to field sitting MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary again for the upcoming MLC elections.
Announcing this in a press meet here on Thursday November 26, BJP district president, Thingale Vikramarjauna Hegde said, "BJP is fielding Kota Srinivas Poojary for the third time in the upcoming MLC polls, scheduled to be held on December 27.
“He has worked for the betterment of the local bodies and tackled many public problems. Dakshina Kannada and Udupi BJP workers will put in their best efforts for their candidate," said Thingale.
"In the district, 1,078 booth committees will be replaced by standing committees, out of which 828 have been installed already. By the end of November, the booth committee process will be completed. We have formed 116 ward committees and 158 panchayat committees in the district," he said.
The district BJP has decided to hold a three-day training camp for their party workers from November 27 to 29 at Kundapur and Koteshwar, during which former chief minister Yeddyurappa, BJP state president Prahlad Joshi and other senior leaders will address the party workers, he informed.
"I will try to eliminate administrative problems if I win the election," said Kota Srinivas Poojary. He also released a handbook titled 'Sadhaneya Hejje Gurutu', which contains information on the achievements and programmes of the NDA government at the centre and those of the district BJP.
Kota Srinivas Poojary was unanimously elected in 2008 for one year and eight months. He was also elected in 2010.
Naveen Kuthyar, spokesperson Mattar Rathnakar Hegde and Geethanjali Suvarna among others were present.
