Mangaluru, Nov 30: Personnel attached to Bunder police station in the city, on Sunday November 29, arrested three persons. They have been charged with obstructing policemen from discharging their duties, beating them up, and trying to kill them.
The arrested accused are Manjoj Kumar (33), owner of a bar here, bar manager, Sundar (49), and supervisor, Ashok (36).
After the deputy commissioner of the district recently ordered for closure of all bars by midnight, most of the bars have fallen in line and complying with this order, it is gathered. But a bar in the city, it is said, failed to conform to this instruction, and in spite of repeated instructions, continued to overlook them, it is claimed.
Late night on Saturday, Bunder police sub-inspector, Nagesh, along with some staff, visited the bar to ask them to stick to the rules. It is said that bar owner and other staff of the bar used abusive words against the police personnel, derided them, besides assaulting and trying to kill them.
