Mangalore, Aug 18: The so-called ‘ghost’ which has given sleepless nights to many and nightmares to a few in the last one week has become a new sensation in the city. While so far no one has fathomed the truth behind the 'ghost', the rationalists’ association has now set out on 'Mission Ghost' in order to bring out the truth behind the story which more wings of imagination attached to that than facts.
Narendra Nayak of Rationalists’ Association has opined that someone in the city is spreading rumours to establish the superstitious beliefs among the people. Hence, he has decided to conduct a probe to bring out the reality.
But the shouts of the ‘ghost’ reportedly continued even on Friday August 17 night. Many locals and mediapersons were present on the spot on Friday midnight too. Strange sounds like a cat mewing; a baby crying and also a lady screaming badly were heard.
This ‘ghost’ story has created a new debate in the city. The locals have started gossipping regarding this topic.
Some sources complain that land mafia is involved in this ‘ghost’ story. This mafia has planned either to grab this land or to buy it at a rockbottom price.
The said ‘haunted house’ is located between the ladies' hostel and a college which has been a major concern. Even some empty liquor bottles were found inside this building under construction. Hence, it is also said that some miscreants are creating unnecessary problems under the influence of 'spirit.'
The story continues further. According to a local, two ladies had drowned in a lake which is close to the said building a few years ago and "their souls has not yet attained salvation. So their souls are creating problems," they say.
Whatever it may be, one thing is sure that residents of the city as well as other places are quite curious about this 'ghost.' Everyday some new and interesting stories or other story is making rounds in the city. The 'city ghost' has even made its way into the world of SMS.
But Prof Narendra Nayak does not agree with all these stories. So now the interesting part is, what truth will his probe bring out?
