Mangalore, Aug 21: ‘Vishwa Konkani Diwas’ was celebrated at Loyola Hall, St Aloysius College here on Monday, August 20.
Speaking on the occasion B Nagaraj Shetty district-in-charge minister pointed out that a language does not belong to one particular religion. But it infact belongs to all those who make an effort to learn a new language, he added.
He rued the fact that children today are losing touch with their mother tongue because most of them communicate in English (language) even in their homes.
Make the younger generation, communicate in their mother tongue at home, he urged and concluded his speech.
Basti Vaman Shenoy president of Konkani language and Culture Foundation, Paul Moras president of All India Konkani Parishat and others were present on the occasion.
