Bangalore, Aug 21: Rameshwar Thakur was on Tuesday sworn-in as the 15th Governor of Karnataka after being shifted from the post in Orissa.
Thakur, 80, was administered oath of office by Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Cyriac Joseph at a function in Raj Bhavan here.
State Chief Secretary P B Mahishi read out the presidential communique appointing Thakur as the Governor of the state.
Outgoing Governor T N Chaturvedi, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa were present on the occasion.
The brief ceremony was witnessed by Thakur's wife Narmada, his daughters Mrudulla Sinha, Sangeeta Thakur and others members of the family.
Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, floor leaders in both houses of legislatures N Dharam Singh and H K Patil, KPCC president M Mallikarjun Kharge and ministers also attended the ceremony.
Earlier, Thakur was accorded a warm reception on his arrival at the airport here. Chief Minister also hosted a lunch in honour of Thakur and Chaturvedi.
