Udupi, Dec 15: 'Homeguard day' was observed on Monday, December 14 at Home guard office near Kinnimulki, Udupi here.
After receiving the honour from home guards, Dr Sumana, ASP, Karkala said that, the home guards are working the same like the police officers in order to maintain peace and order. "During fests, fares, election, public meetings home guards work together with police officials. Although their income is less as compared to the police, they are well dedicated to their duty and work sincerely." she said.
On this occasion, home guards were felicitated for their dedicated service. They are as Sadhashiv Servegar, former unit officer Kaup, Ramesh Devadiga, sergant Karkala unit, Manjunath, Udupi unit, Ravi, Udupi unit and Prakash Aacharya Kaup unit.
Oath taking ceremony was headed by Ramesh deputy commandant.K Prashant Shetty, district commandent delivered annual report.
G S Chandrashekhar and other chief guests were present. R C Rajesh, second in commandent welcomed gathering. Ramesh, deputy commandent proposed vote of thanks.
Sainath Udyavar, manager Hi-tech hospital Udyavar compered the progamme.
