Bengaluru, Dec 16: Contradicting the claims of Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju in parliament that there was no linkage between the murder of noted Kannada writer Prof M M Kalburgi and the Maharashtra rationalists Govind Pansare and and Narendra Dabolkar, Karnataka’s Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara maintained that the initial investigations by the State police suggested a definite common link.
Karnataka’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which has been probing the case killing of Kannada writer Kalburgi, has found some evidences of common link in killing of three rationalists, Dr Parameshwara said.
"We found prima facie similarities in the killing of three rationalists," the Home Minister said.
Contradicting Rijiju’s statement, Dr Parameshwarasaid "the CID is investigating into thousands of calls made to Kaburgi," who was shot dead in the morning of August 30, 2015 at his own residence in Dharwad.
Dr Parameshwara, who is also the State Congress president, said neither the Central Bureau of Investigation nor the Intelligence Bureau have given any inputs to the Government or the CID on killing of Kalburgi.
The Home Minister said "the CID is seriously conducting the probe and we are expected to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of Kalburgi."
He dismissed reports about a slow pace of investigation by the CID said the agency has been grilling suspected persons.
