Mangaluru: Overwhelmed by burden of borrowings, man ends life

Mangaluru, Dec 17: Chandrahas Shetty (36), residing at Kodakkal near Padil in the outskirts of the city ended his life by hanging himself on the night of Tuesday December 15. The suicide came to light on Wednesday morning.

Shetty, a resident of Shivanagara in Kodakkal, worked as a daily deposit collector for a cooperative society. It is gathered that he had borrowed from different sources for various purposes, and was under tremendous financial pressure. He was his normal self on Tuesday, his friends said, but he had not returned home on Tuesday night.

On Wednesday morning, his family learnt that a person had hanged himself in a commercial shop at Kodakkal. They went there and found that Chandrahas had ended his life in this fashion.

A report about the incident was filed at the rural police station here, and the police personnel have undertaken investigation.
