Mangaluru, Dec 17: A retired teacher lost his life in a collision between a lorry and a two-wheeler that occurred in front of the post office in Moodbidri town on Thursday December 17.
The deceased has been identified as Chandrashekar Shetty (80).
The lorry laden with cement sacks plying from Mangaluru to Karkala hit Chandrashekar Shetty's two-wheeler, throwing him on to the road. The wheel of the lorry then ran over his left leg causing serious injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital in Moodbidri where he passed away.
Moodbidri police have registered a case.
Chandrashekar Shetty hailed from Ninjoor Padumane near Bailoor. He had served as the managing trustee of Kodimanithaya Temple for ten years. He was identified as the leader of Ninjoor Kambala committee. He was staying near Samagara Gundi in Marpadi, Moodbidri and had taught social science and English at Jain High school for 26 years. He had also served as an officer in the NCC Navy wing during his tenure as a teacher. He was working as an LIC agent after his retirement.
