Mangalore, Aug 25: The ideal story as it unfolds. He is the bridegroom of tomorrow. This should have been the happiest moment of his life with just a few hours away for his nuptials. Unfortunately, he ends up behind bars, all due to his fool-hardy impulsive act.
Thirty seven year old Gopal Krishna Alva from Manjeshwar is thus jilted at the altar. Gopal was supposed to enter into wedlock on Sunday August 26, as his marriage was to have been held at the Vishwas Auditorium at Talapady.
The engagement had taken place earlier at Kudlamugeru, near Vittal. Even the wedding invitation cards had been distributed to all his relatives and friends. Only the performing of the marriage ceremony was pending.
And the current scenario is that Gopal instead of softly treading his way to the altar, has instead been lead by the police directly behind bars.
Gopal Alva was arrested at Ullal, on Friday August 24 by the special police squad headed by inspector Jayant Shetty in connection with the robbery of Chemmanur Jewellers, which had recently occurred at Bangalore.
The police have succeeded in confisticating approximately 2.5 kg of gold from him, which he is alleged to have robbed from the Chemmanur Jewellers store. Gopal will now be produced before the magistrate at Bantwal, on Saturday August 25. The magistrate has remanded him into police custody till Sep 4.
