Mangalore Aug 26: Branding and demoralizing a particular community with a terrorist activity tag, by citing a single example should be stopped, firmly declared the  Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD), president K M Sharief here at the Town Hall, on Saturday, August 25. Sharief was inaugurating a campaign called “Terrorism Exposed’, which is being undertaken as part of a state wide campaign organized by the KFD.

The underlying objective of the campaign is to demonstrate to the general public, how the “communal and fascist forces” in the country are maligning the Muslim community as a whole, in the name of terrorism and using it as a prime strategy in their anti-community propaganda.

As part of this awareness campaign silent protests will be held at Madikeri and Udupi on August 26, Mysore on August 27, Ramanagaram and Tumkur on August 29 and Puttur and Belthangady on August 30.

The campaign which started of from Town Hall is going to end in Bangalore on August 31. Lecturer Uday Kumar Irvathur of the University College, Mangalore, and convener Rafiuddin, New Age India Forum, delivered the key note lectures at the inaugural function here. The KFD president K.M. Sharief, presided over the function.

The president of KFD Sharief as part of his inaugural address criticized the press, stating that walls are being raised between the communities through biased reports made by the modern media. Allegations are unnecessarily made against the Muslims before unearthing the truth about any incident, he declared visibly upset.

Sharief even warned that if the decision of the state coalition government to drop some cases against Bajarang Dal becomes a reality KFD, will take its protest to the streets.

Its a fantastic move made by KFD since a particular community always been highlighted for terrorism. People must understand that this is just a step taken to unveil the ongoing terror activities in the city by fascists whom are not motivated by binladen .... Well done KFD and all the best...

Terrorism, a brutal and cruel menace which is affecting the common man today for the acts, I may say "atrocities commited" by powerful governments, fortified powerful nations, powerful people who harm others and those who are resource hungry.

Terrorism itself is of repulsive nature, one can fight it to eliminate it but I am doubtful of its elimination until and unless the power hungry nations and people try to resolve it with proper dialogue. "we cannot negotiate with terrorists" is a outdated thinking. One does not have to negotiate but pay attention to the concerns. Branding one community and racial profiling people of any community will only increase these acts. The oppressed will get back at the oppressors directly and indirectly to cause harm in immense proportions.

While it is sad the world today has become more vulnerable, one can only hope the poor and innocent does not have to pay the price. India in particular, where full proof security is impossible one can only hope the terrorists will have mercy with the poor and innocent. The powerful nations fight with huge armies, perhaps calling it justified is another kind of terrorism against the terrorists or so called fighters of certain ideologies.

Even after brutal world wars governments and the world have not learnt the lessons. Wars and footage continue to dominate our Tvs and news and the pictures exposed will never tell the story as to the extent of crimes commited by modern war mongers. The resource hungry nations who one way or the other steal others nations commodity that does not benefit to those genuine owners. Instead a few benifit from it. Yes terrorism is wrong and a crime but those who inflict harm on others will perhaps have a different story to tell. Powerful nations wage wars and consider it justified.

Like wise terrorists who inflict death on others perhaps feel the same although they know it is wrong. The world can only live without terror, not with counter terror, but understanding the underlying cause and its solution in a peaceful manner. Will we see that day. I surely hope so. If not, we are doomed.

The KFD has its right to express its displeasure over this branding. However, given the blasts in Hyderabad and terror activities in Bangalore in the recent past, it might not be wrong to say that there are elements in our society who need to be stopped.

Our government, in an attempt to appease a particular community is putting the blame on Pak-Bangla nexus each time something like this happens and then goes into a deep slumber only to wake up when yet again terror strikes.

We must accept that there are internal extermist elements taking motivation from the bin ladens and striking terror. Their motive is only to destroy this losely knit unity in our society. It would do a great deal to the soceity if the likes of KFD also try to recognize and act on how to bring those extreme elements into the mainstream. Only will it make sense to take this so called mauna yatra and distrub traffic in the heart of the city.
