Mangalore, Aug 27: In the backdrop of conflicting reports emanating from the state capital and rumblings among the JDS and BJP leaders at the state level, both chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and deputy CM B S Yediyurappa on Saturday reiterated in the city that the transfer of power would take place in time on October 3.
However, their statements came separately after they arrived in the city to participate in the launching of various developmental projects on Monday.
Kumaraswamy arrived on Sunday night by air. Responding to media queries on power transfer to the BJP on fast-approaching deadline of October 3, he replied in short that it would take place as scheduled.
Asked as to when the coordination committee of the two parties at the state level, which has failed to meet during the past few days, would hold its meeting, the CM said he could not understand why the media was so interested in what the parties were not interested in. All the confusion was the creation of the media, he said in brief.
He was welcomed at the airport by minister B Nagaraj Shetty and district MLAs Abhayachandra of Moodbidri and U T Khader of Ullal.
On the other hand, deputy chief minister Yediyurappa, although it had earlier been announced that his visit was cancelled, did arrive after all. Apparently with the intention of not missing the limelight and the project-launch functions on Monday, he flew into the city on Sunday.
Speaking to the media at Bajpe airport, Yediyurappa averred that there was no confusion about the power transfer and the CM had already clarified in the matter. He also said there was no misunderstanding about the coordination committee meeting either, which would also be held soon.
