Kasargod : Rape attempt on blind girl - accused held

Kasargod, Dec 22: Policemen from Manjeshwar have arrested a person, who reportedly tried to rape a blind girl residing in a rented house at Hidyatnagar, Uppala in the district. It is reported that the youth, identified as Muhammed Haneef, had tried to rape the girl on Monday December 21 afternoon. She is the daughter of a couple hailing from Karnataka.

The girl, who is a third standard student, was targetted by 50-year-old Haneef to satisfy his sexual desires, it is said. Haneef happens to be the girl's neighbour. The parents of the girl later said that Haneef had made rape attempt on their daughter in the past too.

On Monday afternoon, the parents of the girl along with their only son had been away visiting a hospital. Haneef, who observed that the young girl was alone at her home, tried to rape her. The girl shouted for help, at which some neighbours rushed to her rescue. They caught hold of the accused and handed him over to police personnel of Manjeshwar station. The policemen said they propose to subject the girl to medical tests.

It may be recalled that in the same area, an attempt to rape a dumb minor girl had been made at Aila area of Uppala about two months back. The increasing attacks on helpless small girls suffering from disabilities has shocked the people

    Give nice police treatment to such ba...rds so that he should not repeat it again. such persons should be heavily penalised and this money should be used to help less privileged people.
