Mangaluru, Dec 23: District congress interim president Ibrahim Kodijal, on Wednesday, December 23, conducted a press meet at district congress office and conveyed his wished for Eid Milad and Christmas.

Addressing the press meet, Kodijal said, “I convey well wishes to all on the occasion of Eid Milad and Christmas. Prophet Mohammed has given the message of peace and harmony. According to Islam, if any one kills or troubles another without any reason then it is like the murder of whole society.”

“We are celebrating Eid Miland on December 24 and soon after that we have Christmas. The birth of Jesus has also given the message of peace and brotherhood. Even Hinduism gives the message of peace. So we all should cooperate to celebrate the festivals of respective religions. But in recent times, there have been incidents of spoiling the peace of the society. For development peace is important.”

“MLC elections will be held on December 27. We have about 2,500 voters in ZP, GP, and corporation level. We are confident of winning with a clear majority. The voters for MLC election are party leaders who have won in GP, ZP and corporation elections, so there is no point of rebel candidates winning. We have fielded Pratapchandra Shetty as our candidate.”

“He has been chosen after taking consents of all the MLAs, ministers of our district and all senior party leaders. Jayaprakash Hegde was given MLA, MP seat and was given all the respect he deserved. Chief minister and KPCC president also tried to convince him but he did not agree. Harikrishna Bantwal was also told by Janardhan Poojary not to contest. We have seen examples of rebel candidates loosing. So we are confident that our candidate will win with clear majority.”

Mayor Jacintha Vijay Alfred, Corporators, A C Vinayraj, Shashidar Hegde, Appi, Naveen D'Souza, Congress leaders T K Sudeer, Ramananda Poojary and others were present.
