Udupi: Christmas celebration held at St Francis Xavier Church Udyavar

Udupi, Dec 28: Christmas celebration was held at St Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar campus on Saturday, December 26. 

Fr Dr Lawrence D’Souza, secretary, Catholic Education Board, Udupi inaugurated the celebration by cutting the Christmas cake. 

In his Christmas message, Fr Lawrence said, “Jesus Christ came to this world as a common child to free people from all their sins. An individual's life will be complete only when he follows Christ's simplicity, mutual love, understanding and human values in life.”

Fr Roque D'Souza, president of the function delivered the introductory note.

Colourful cultural programme by children, parents and dance troupe entertained the gathering. Santa Clause distributed sweets and gifts to children on the occasion.  

Sugandhi Shekar, gram panchayat, Udyavar, Zudith Pereira, president, Catholic Sabha, among others were present on the occasion.

President of the programme, Wilfred D'Souza, welcomed and Mary D'Souza, secretary proposed the vote of thanks. 

Anitha Saldanha compered the programme.

    It's very heartening to observe, from the beautiful photographs of the 'Christmas Souharda' celebration held at St. Francis Xavier Church, Udyavar, that a lots of dedication and hard work had gone into organising the programme.

    Also, it was a very joyful feeling to see the happy faces of the dignitaries, as well as the audience.

    Glad to know that my classmate, Rev.Fr. Roque D'Souza, the Parish Priest has been taking initiatives to conduct such wonderful 'Souharda' programmes year after year.

    May God bless all those associated with the programme, during the Christmas week as well as during the ensuing New Year 2016.
