Panaji, Aug 29: For those who could not make it to Malaysia, the fortnight beginning from August 30 will give them an opportunity to get one of the best things Malaysia is known for - food.
That too by visiting the hotel in the city. Marriott resort in Goa has planned a special Malaysian food festival.
Ever wonder what a Malaysian street food fare would be like? It would include fascinating dishes which use soulful ingredients like fresh root ginger, aromatic herbs and roots, bright green stalks of lemongrass, bulbous pods of garlic and shallots, kaffir limes and fresh red and green chilies.
Well, you don’t need to imagine anymore, simply head down to the Wan Hao at Goa Marriott instead. From August 30 to September 16, Wan Hao will serve up the best oriental dishes during the Malay Street Food festival. From signature preparations like Roti paratha to Mee rebus, Wan Hao will have it all. Chef Rayomund who is a master of the genre makes every dish more delicious than you could imagine.
The festival promises to be a gastronomical delight with its array of favourites from traditional Malay street food. The dishes combine a traditionally prepared selection with contemporary flavours, a blend of fresh vegetables and meats complimented with a range of herbs and exotic spices to feed an eclectic taste.
From the exciting Kari Ayam, a Malay chicken curry seasoned with fiery red chilli paste and whole spices, simmered delicately along with string beans, okra and eggplant in coconut milk to the simply delicious Udang Halia which is a fascinating preparation with crispy succulent jumbo prawns served in a tangy sauce garnished with chopped scallions.
Or sample the vegetarian Tau Kua Suan Nah, a healthy stir- fry with bean curd, fresh crunchy leeks, traditional spices and sauces. The menu is indeed a treat from the Oriental land. The highlight of the festival is the live station where one can create a Malaysian odyssey and savour the unique and mesmerizing flavours of this exotic region.
The live station will churn out salads and main courses right before you and will take you through the Malaysian Food Street. Choose to eat from the live stations or from an a la carte menu, either way it is the simple delight of the cuisine that will leave your taste buds tingling for more.
