Udupi, Dec 31: In an accident which occurred near Padebettu arch on Padubidri-Karkala highway on Thursday December 31, a young scooter rider was killed, while the person riding the pillion suffered serious injuries. He stands admitted into a private hospital at Mangaluru.
The accident occurred when a scooter hit a bus from behind at the above spot. Dileep, the ill-fated scooter rider, was going to Suzlon company's office along with friend, Ranjan, in the pillion for attending to some work there. When the vehicle was nearing Suzlon company's office, in an attempt to overtake a bus belonging to Suzlon company, Dileep faltered and hit the bus from behind.
Dileep (22) died on the spot. Ranjan was rushed to a private hospital at Mangaluru with grave injuries.
Padubidri police have registered a case and taken up investigation.
