Mangalore, Aug 30: Owing to increase in theft cases in the city, the police have handful of work to trace the thieves. Though there are wide complaints about their working style, most of the times police do their duty diligently. The arrest of Joy, notorious who used to break open into government staff's quarters by Kavoor police is indeed an example that police can work diligently.

The Kavoor police were successful in arresting the ‘government quarters’ thief on Thursday August 30 evening. The arrested person has been identified as Joy (26), son of Kurian from Chikmagalur. He is a specialist in robbing government quarters.

He came out of the jail on August 1, 2007 after serving 4 years of imprisonment in connection with a theft case. There are few pending cases against him even now at Urva, Kadri police stations against him.

A total of 6 cases pending against him at Chikmagalur. But it seems that he would never deter from his old track.  On Friday August 24 he again broke open into a government quarters at Bondel. Accordingly police arrested him at Kavoor at about 4 pm on Thursday August 30. The police have seized 3 pairs of earrings, watches etc, which he had stolen from the government quarters at Bondel.
