Mysuru, Jan 12 : The criminal investigation department (CID) filed a charge sheet against Premakumari in the first additional munsiff court for extortion and criminal intimidation on Monday, January 11. Premakumari, a government employee who worked at Mysuru taluk office, had accused former minister S A Ramdas of sexual harassment.
Premakumari had claimed that Ramdas had secretly married her and filed a complaint of sexual harassment against him in February 2014. The police then had registered a case against Ramdas for attempt to murder, criminal intimidation and breach of trust. The next day, Ramdas had lodged a complaint accusing Premakumari of blackmailing him. The complaint mentioned that Premakumari had extorted Rs 1.10 crore from him.
Disturbed by the accusation, Ramdas had tried to commit suicide by hanging. A case was registered by Ramdas' personal assistant accusing Premakumari, her mother and brother as the reason for the attempt of suicide.
The cases were transferred to the CID subsequently. CID then had submitted a ‘B’ report in the complaint filed by Premakumari within six months. The CID has now charge-sheeted Premakumari, her brother and mother in the complaint filed by Ramdas.
The police have pressed charges under Sections 506 (criminal intimidation) and 384 (extortion). The police claimed to have found evidence that Premakumari and other accused had blackmailed Ramdas and his brother during the 2013 Assembly elections and also received money.
Police say they have evidence to prove that Ramdas paid Premakumari Rs 1.10 crore through his brother. They also say that Premakumari bought a site worth Rs 60 lac and a car worth Rs 14 lac with the money. All the proceeds from the alleged crime were recovered by police.
After the charge sheet was filed, Premakumari has said "I never extorted money from anybody. I will fight a legal battle on the accusation and I am sure that I will get justice. I will enter politics, gain strength and fight against injustice done to me."
