Mangalore, Sep 6: Seaways Group, a leading shipping & logistics service provider in India has introduced a new service with an Indian Flag Vessel 'MV Kinship Bangar' on the West coast of India. The service will connect the port of Pipavav to JNPT and Port of Mangalore, a company press release disclosed here.

An Indian Flag vessel, MV Kinship Bangar has 354 TEU capacity having 80 reefer points on board. It will be useful for trading during the forthcoming reefer season on the west coast of India.

The vessel has the capacity to carry dry and reefer cargoes and cater to the domestic cargoes between Pipavav and Mangalore, which in turn will enormously assist coastal trade.

On Sept 7, this service will be flagged off from the port of JNPT to Mangalore, followed by JNPT and Pipava. This connectivity will prove strategic to the port in Navasheva for transhipping containers and also providing connectivity to North India out of Pipavav, the release informed.

Moreover exporters from North India and MLOs can use this service to connect their main line at JNPT using the Pipavav route and unclog the traffic on this heavily congested route.

According to the Seaways Group CEO CaptVijay Gopal, there was huge potential for the company on the west coast of India, particularly with Reefer and domestic cargoes. There is an immediate need for modernizing and improving the coastal shipping along the 7000 km coastline of India keeping in mind the growing economy and the massive infrastructure development taking place across the country, he informed.

And coastal shipping was a more safer, faster and economical alternative to move large quantities from point to point with relatively low costs and transit time, he added.
