Panaji, Sep 6: The traditional festival of Janmashthami,  a festival which marks the birth of Lord Krishna, was celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the state of Goa.

Hundreds of 'Dahi Handi breaking' competitions were organized in every corner of all the major towns and villages. The most talked-about competition was the one at Nagueshi, Ponda (28 kms from Panaji).

Before the Dahi Handi competition, an eye-catching procession is taken out around the village and finally the people assemble in the temple courtyard of Lord Naguesh at Nagueshi.

As soon as the procession reaches the temple, all the people who take part in the procession compulsorily take a dip in the holy pond and then enter the temple courtyard after which the much-awaited competition begins.

Hundreds of people assemble in the temple courtyard to witness and enjoy the most famous Dahi Hnadi breaking competition at Nagueshi, Ponda.
