Mangaluru: Kirem parish wins championship at ICYM talent hunt event

Mangaluru, Jan 18: India Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), central council, Mangaluru diocese organized 'XYZ 2016 – Exposure of Youth Zeal', a search for young talent at Padua College, Nantoor here on Sunday January 17.

Praveen Pereira, proprietor, County Developers, Moodbidri inaugurated the programme by throwing the XYZ darts to the board. He stressed on the importance of unity among youth and wished them well.

Fr Ronald Prakash D'Souza, director of ICYM for Mangaluru diocese delivered the introductory speech and encouraged the participants to take part in a sportive spirit.

Praveen Pereira felicitated the ICYM units who participated in bus stand painting on December 6, 2015.

Alwyn D’Souza, diocesan ICYM president welcomed the gathering. Rohan Madanthyar compered the programme and Jackson D'Costa, secretary of ICYM delivered the vote of thanks.

Around 40 parishes took part in 10 different events organized at 'XYZ - 2016'.


The winners of the events of 'XYZ-2016' were:

 

Overall championship: 1st place - Kirem
                                 2nd place - Alangar

    Great initiative everyone. We are responsible to hone the talent of the youth. And by conducting events like this ICYM is doing just that. There are innumerous number of youth who have a lot of talents in drama (tiatr) and singing. Do conduct competitions in the same and revive the lost spirit in the youth. It will get them interested in it just as Francis Fernandes Cascia did and come out with wonderful works of talent.

    Congratulations to Kirem parish for winning the championship award at the ICYM talent hunt event. You all deserve it for your hard work and perseverance. India Catholic Youth Movement is doing a wonderful job by organizing such events. I appreciate all the organizers, patrons and all who took part in this event.

    Well done ICYM organisers,this is a good step to know each other from different parishes. It would have been good if Udupi diocease also included. Mangalorean are missing Udupi diocease.
