Kasargod, Feb 6: Nileshwar police on Friday night arrested CPM leader Raghavan who was captured in CCTV attempting to steal from a house.

Raghavan (53) is the person arrested. He was arrested in Valiyaparamba where he was hiding in a secret place. Police team led by Nileshwar circle inspector K E Premarajan acted on a credible tip off and made the arrest.

Raghavan had entered the house of Muhammed Younus, a non-resident Indian entrepreneur on Monday midnight. Neighbours of that house who found a person loitering around the house phoned Younus’ relatives in turn who informed police. When the police reached the spot, the thief was not to be seen as he had fled.

Police found the movements of the thief captured in the CCTV. Raghavan wearing a white dhoti and shirt with a bag and an iron rod in hand was easily recognised. Raghavan, upon knowing police were after him, absconded.

As per sources Raghavan has admitted that he has been involved in many thefts in the past. He also revealed that he had stolen 14 sovereigns of gold from a house belonging to Abdulla in Trikarpur on May 13 in 2015.

Police are still interrogating Raghavan.

I think this fellow is sick.like a divided personality.During the day he s normal activity.and when the dark he must be having the urge to steal. It is not to enrich himself. It is almost a art of schizophrenic. Some People get up at night and walk,or do things ,next day they dont remember.some murder, some jump into water. If he has done it with stealing purpose,he wouldn't admit it.Thats my theory.Ask his home People whether any such incidents happened.Dont file case all of a sudden.
